About Jane Kalagher

Jane Kalagher is a consultant and coach. She founded Coaching Resources in 1997 and Exhibits Matter in 2007. Jane works with individuals and groups within organizations such as high technology companies and museums. For the past eighteen years, Jane has studied patterns in nature, psyche and culture. She is interested in the initial conditions of things – be it museum exhibits, relationships, or organizations. Jane asserts that the beginning patterns of something affect its outcome. This work is drawn from the new sciences and psychology. From this, Jane applies pattern analysis to her work as both a coach and consultant.

Consulting for Museum Exhibition Design/Development Teams: Jane has been working on a museum exhibit development project for the past three years. She applies pattern recognition and analysis to exhibition design. Her methodology, Exhibit Pattern Analysis, analyzes and pinpoints underlying patterns in museum exhibits that support or detract from the meaning-making power of the exhibit. The aim is to design exhibits that offer visitors powerful meaning-making experiences and that attract visitors precisely because they can immediately sense that potential in their initial scan. Jane has applied pattern analysis to exhibits and art works such as Machine with Chair by the well-regarded sculptor, Arthur Ganson.

Jane presented her work on pattern analysis as it relates to exhibit design at the 2009 CAM (California Association of Museums) conference in San Francisco, CA. She used Wilderness Psalms, one of the exhibits from Sonic Scenery at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (produced by Vanda Vitali and won AAM’s top MUSE award) to describe her methodology. She is a certified pattern analyst and is on the faculty of the Assisi Institute, Brattleboro, VT. Jane holds a BSN and MA in Counseling Psychology. She is a member of AAM and NAME.

Coaching for Individuals, Groups or Organizations: Jane works with CEOs, curators, exhibit designers/developers and directors to define, develop and achieve career vision and goals. She applies pattern analysis principles to her coaching practice to achieve optimal results for her clients. Jane has delivered coaching/training programs to leaders, managers and teams. Her background and extensive history working with interdisciplinary teams within hospitals and agencies gives her a unique understanding of how effective leadership can positively impact the future state of organizations.

Jane received coach training from the Coaches Institute, San Raphael, CA and is a certified teleclass leader. Jane is a member of ICF (International Coach Federation), ICF-NE, and ENGN.
